John Crabbie 30 Year Old is a rare and beautifully matured 30-year-old Speyside single malt from John Crabbie & Co. Released in 2018 to celebrate the opening of the company’s distillery in Leith, Edinburgh, this limited single-cask expression showcases the independent bottler’s ability to source exceptional mature whisky. It was matured in a refill Oloroso sherry butt and released as a very limited 330-bottle edition.

The whisky is described as lightly peated, bringing together rich sherry-influenced character with a subtle layer of smoke. Notes include Christmas cake, almonds and crystallised angelica, complemented by sweet spice and a deep, mature Speyside character. The long maturation gives the whisky considerable depth while the refill sherry cask allows the spirit’s character to remain prominent.

Presented as a single-cask, non-chill-filtered and cask-strength release, the John Crabbie 30 Year Old is a particularly interesting bottle for collectors of mature independent Scotch whisky. With only 330 bottles produced, it represents a limited piece of the modern John Crabbie & Co. story and a distinctive example of well-aged Speyside single malt.
