Glen Albyn 36 Year Old 1976–2012 – Rare Old by Gordon & MacPhail is a highly sought-after Highland single malt Scotch whisky from the now-closed Glen Albyn distillery in Inverness.
Distilled in 1976 and bottled in 2012, this remarkable whisky was matured for approximately 36 years in refill sherry casks. Glen Albyn closed permanently in 1983, making surviving bottlings such as this an increasingly rare glimpse into the character of a historic Scottish distillery.
The mature profile combines ripe orchard fruit, orange zest, honey, caramel, cinnamon and gentle oak, with subtle notes of nuts, creamy malt and dried fruit. The palate is smooth and mellow, developing layers of fruit, spice and mature oak before a long, gently drying finish.
Glen Albyn 36 Year Old is a fascinating addition to any collection, offering both mature Highland character and the historical appeal of a silent distillery bottling from Gordon & MacPhail.
