Nc'Nean 5Yr 2018-2023 Westie Sponge 1 by Decadent Drinks 700ml

Nc'Nean 5 Year Old 2018–2023 – Westie Sponge 1 by Decadent Drinks is the inaugural release in the Westie Sponge series, celebrating distinctive single malts from the West Highlands and Islands.

Distilled in 2018, this expression brings together two Nc’Nean casks produced using different yeast recipes and matured in first-fill hogsheads. The whiskies were later combined and returned to the same casks for further maturation before being bottled in 2023. Only 340 bottles were produced from this first portion of the release.

The result is a fresh, lively and remarkably fruity young single malt. The nose offers lemon sponge cake, wildflowers, ginger, malt and golden syrup, while the palate develops notes of apricot, custard, apple blossom, honeysuckle and cereal. The finish brings bright spice and stone fruit.

A fascinating early release from Nc’Nean, and an excellent addition for enthusiasts interested in independent bottlings and the developing character of this modern Highland distillery.
