Linkwood 25 Year Old 1996–2022 by Gordon & MacPhail is a mature and highly limited Speyside single malt from the respected Connoisseurs Choice range. Distilled at Linkwood Distillery in 1996 and matured for 25 years, this single-cask release was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2022 from Cask #8273, a refill sherry butt. The release was limited to just 589 bottles.

The long maturation in refill sherry wood has allowed the elegant Linkwood spirit to develop considerable depth while retaining its distinctive Speyside character. Tasting notes for this release highlight raspberry, strawberry liquorice, citrus peel, sweet toffee and soft spice, followed by baked apple, stewed raisins, blackcurrant and mixed herbs on the palate. The finish brings toasted almonds and rich forest fruits.

With its 25-year maturation, 1996 vintage, single cask #8273 and extremely limited 589-bottle outturn, this is an appealing release for collectors of mature Gordon & MacPhail bottlings and older Linkwood. The combination of long-aged Speyside whisky and refill sherry cask maturation makes this a distinctive addition to a serious whisky collection.
