Coleburn 21 Year Old 1979 – Rare Malts Selection is a historic Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from the now-closed Coleburn distillery, released as part of Diageo’s highly regarded Rare Malts Selection.

Distilled in 1979 and bottled in October 2000, this 21-year-old expression is an official distillery bottling from one of Scotland’s lost distilleries. Coleburn closed in 1985, adding considerable historical interest to this vintage release.

The nose is floral and zesty, with waxy undertones, crystallised orange, damp earth, cereal notes and subtle coconut cream, alongside delicate peat. On the palate, citrus, mint, apple and lemon peel develop with a clean, slightly perfumed character, followed by ginger and mature oak.

The finish is gently dry and peppery, with lingering ginger, oak and subtle bitterness. This is an intriguing example of an old-fashioned Speyside style, offering a combination of fresh citrus, waxy character, restrained peat and mature oak.
