There are now three regular editions of Admiral Rodney available (from youngest to oldest) – HMS Princessa, HMS Royal Oak and this, named after the HMS Formidable, Admiral Rodney’s flagship in the famous Battle of the Saints.
Formidable was in the center of the British fleet and took advantage of a sudden change of wind to “break the line” and sail into the French fleet unleashing her 98 guns on Admiral de Grasse’s ships.
While all the rums in the series are column distilled, this edition contains rums sourced exclusively from the lowest portion of the Coffey still resulting in a much heavier and more flavoursome rum - "certainly more characterful than most column distilled rums could ever hope to be", according to thefatrumpirate.com.
Aged for 9-12 years in x-Bourbon casks and expertly blended, it promises honeyed raisin fruit, spices and vanilla in a complex palate of luscious sweet dried fruits.
